Meet Our Leadership Team
Amanda Kessler
Chief Financial Officer
Amanda Kessler joined Value-Based RCM as Chief Financial Officer to lead the organization’s financial operations.
Amanda started her career in public accounting and then shifted her focus to healthcare revenue cycle management in 2005. In the last 15 years, she has experienced the full spectrum of financial leadership in this arena, from controllership, FP&A management, client finance and mergers and acquisitions. Throughout these roles, Amanda’s focus has been on building value through communication, analysis and the development of strong teams.
Most recently, Amanda spent six years in financial leadership roles with Bolder Healthcare Solutions/Cognizant, where she was responsible for financial and management reporting of 13 service lines, multiple acquisitions, and was instrumental in preparing the company for sale. Prior to that role, she spent nine years building her expertise in these areas with Springfield Service Corporation/SPi Healthcare.
Amanda holds a double major in Accounting and Psychology from Illinois College and is active various community and youth organizations.
Karen Pilley
Chief Strategy Officer
Karen Pilley joined the Value-Based RCM (VBRCM), team as Chief Strategy Officer.
Karen’s career started in clinical healthcare and quickly moved to administrative healthcare; she has a proven background in health care revenue cycle with several major organizations focused on operational and financial excellence. Her duties will include the strategic growth of the VBRCM Substance Use Disorder/Behavioral Health division. She will support the development of end-to-end revenue cycle services, utilization management, payer contracting and government and managed care payer regulation and compliance for our SUD/BH clientele.

Previously, Karen held a position of Chief Operating Officer of MAP Health Management responsible for implementing significant growth in the revenue cycle management business. Karen is an industry veteran with more than 40 years of experience in the areas of healthcare revenue cycle management and payer contracting and compliance, holding positions with Virtual Radiology, a network of onsite and teleradiology physicians; SPI Healthcare, and US Oncology.

Karen has a nursing degree from Lewis Wilson school of Nursing in New York, lives in St. Petersburg Florida and enjoys spending time with her grandsons. “Joining the Value-Based RCM team was an easy decision for me. The company’s commitment to quality customer service, growth and operational excellence aligns with the type of company I am proud to be a part of,” states Karen.
Chris Hauptli
Chief Technology Officer
Chris Hauptli joined Value-Based RCM as Chief Technology Officer to lead the organization’s technology planning and implementation.
Chris’ career focus has been operational optimization through implementing technology enabled processes. Having spent over ten years in the property casualty insurance space, including Lead North Americas Program Manager for Finance and Specialty Underwriting, he has managed over $100M worth of spend for technology projects.
Most recently, Chris has spent three years in leadership roles within Cognizant’s Revenue Cycle Management division, overseeing merger & acquisition integration and acting as Director of Product for Revenue Cycle Services and Technology.
Chris holds a double major in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas. He has volunteered as a technology strategist for the Deaf Action Center of Dallas and is an active fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Dan Cook
Vice President of Client Experience
Dan Cook joined Value-Based RCM out of an appreciation for the mission of the company, recognizing that it will provide him the opportunity to establish and nurture professional client relationships the way he wants to: as a trusted partner.
Dan’s professional focus has been creating partnerships with healthcare providers that are not just vendor/client relationships – the value proposition for VBRCM clients extends beyond financial metrics to shared strategic and tactical goals, incentivizing all parties to succeed in the same way. He does not just want a client; he wants to help his clients become more successful at what they do.

Throughout his 20-year career, Dan has worked with large and small health systems and medical groups of all specialties, most recently as the Vice President of Client Services at Bolder Healthcare Solutions/CognizantRCM. Prior to that, with a software start-up that was acquired by Waystar, a revenue cycle company that was acquired by Conifer Health Solutions, and a healthcare consulting company that was acquired by United Health Group.

Dan has a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and spends most of his free time with his wife and eight children.
Dave Worachek
President and CEO
Dave Worachek founded Value-Based RCM recognizing a significant need in the marketplace for a revenue cycle outsourcer that values the entire continuum of services, patients, providers, and facilities.
Dave’s focus throughout his career has been operational and financial excellence. A never-ending focus on results has driven exceptional client results and, thereby, client retention. In addition, financial performance has resulted in nearly $800 million in exit value from his various companies.​
Dave has spent nearly twenty years in revenue solutions companies, most recently as the Division President of Revenue Cycle Solutions for Bolder Healthcare Solutions/Cognizant. Before that role, Dave was instrumental in the leadership of Springfield Service Corporation/SPI Healthcare in creating what has now become the physician revenue cycle division of Conifer.​
Dave has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is active in various charitable pursuits, including Comfort Fur Kids (providing stuffed animals to hospitalized children) and Together We Cope (supporting those in crisis with food).
Tom Wiessing
Vice President of Physician Services
Tom Wiessing joined Value-Based RCM as Vice President of Physician Services to optimize our operations area.
In addition to his almost 13 years of active-duty service in the United States Marine Corps, Tom has more than 25 years of revenue cycle leadership experience encompassing the payer, provider, and facility revenue cycle spaces. His post military career began at Blue Cross Blue Shield continuing on to MedPlans Partners focusing on multi-state claims adjudication and customer service. He transitioned to the provider side with Springfield Service Corporation / SPi Healthcare where he served as Executive Director of Operations.
Most recently, and over the past several years as an Independent Revenue Cycle Consultant, Tom has held numerous interim leadership roles within facility and provider CBOs for both academic and non-academic health systems. He has a history of driving results through management team development and gains in operational and system efficiencies.
Tom has a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Illinois – Springfield and a master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Cindy Emmett
Director of Managed Care
Cindy Emmett joins the Value-Based RCM team as Director of Managed Care to lead the strategic managed care initiatives both regionally and nationally.
With 25+ years of experience acquired by working as a leader with provider practice management companies, to include United Surgical Partners International, Cindy specializes in all aspects of contract management, with extensive experience in varying contractual payment arrangements, RCM, and market strategic planning. Cindy’s focus has been and remains on striving for the financial success of her Provider clients.
For the past four years, Cindy worked with Bolder Healthcare Solutions/Cognizant RCM in a leadership role responsible for anesthesia revenue opportunities through managed care strategies.
Cindy has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, is a co-founder of a local animal rescue group and competes in canine sports with her dogs.
Teresa May
Vice President of Business Development
Teresa joined the VBRCM team as Vice President of Business Development to help build a foundation of providing exceptional customer service, a commitment to servant leadership, and to build trusted relationships.
Teresa has over 16 years of healthcare sales and leadership experience with building both small start-up companies and large, nationwide facilities. She has held positions in various capacities in healthcare including mental health and SUD. Her diverse background includes sales, marketing, and management with over 12 years of specific experience in behavioral health. Teresa has a proven track record of effectively aligning growth objectives to business strategies.
Teresa holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, going to the dog park, and cooking.
